Electric Elephant updates... 23-08-2008 15:50:53 Getting asked to do something like this is a no brainer:“Would you like to come over to Croatia for a few days and curate a section of our festival?”
So here I am with The Local, contributing to the inaugural Electric Elephant event here at Petrcane in Croatia. Set in a vintage-looking nightclub on a hotel complex at the end of a wee peninsula, we’re here with about 700 others, having brought with us Liz Green, Birdengine, and Denis Jones. These guys complimenting the other live offerings brought by Lee Gorton (redbricks) and The Fence dudes (Kenny, Johnny, and Adem).
This is all something of an aside for most people, who are here for the fine array of djs and boat parties organised by Lowlife. Unabombers, and hundreds more which make me feel rather old. Especially when I sneak off about midnight to bed.
What a place to organise/come to a festival! All punters are either in hotels, apartments, or camping, and the cost of it all for a wekk is very much comparable to what you might pay for a three day stand in the rain back home!
My highlights so far have been Superimposers and Magic Arm (I had to go eat when James Yuill just started) and I am looking forward to playing some percussion with Adem and the Fence kids later.
More soon!
