News from the Local
Electric Elephant final report 26-08-2008 00:00:00Watching a jetski skim past as the sun sets on the Adriatic. Adem is playing, folks are dancing.
It all seems quite surreal and yet it's actually happening, all right here. I'm mightily impressed by the amount of dance heads really responding well to the stuff we've brought, and increaing numbers of people come to see (and enjoy) Birdengine, Liz Green, and Denis Jones. Denis even hooks up to remix some stuff with Dubstep DJ Benga, who follows him. Benga was very good by the way, although the Unabombers were my favourites on the Saturday night.
As incongruous as some of this mixture might have seemed, it really works, and we've an extra bonus of a late Sunday folk session with John Stammers, Magic Arm and James Yuill (with a drunken cameo from Liz Green) - punters hurriedly setting up benches to horseshoe the tiny stage... John Stammers is excellent. Magic Arm and James Yuiil very impressive too, without the help of their electronic boxes of tricks, just them and their guitars works a treat.
During the days I also went running, kayaking, swimming (many times) and so it WAS something of a holiday too!
I really hope this happens again, and I salute the people of Electriks for doing this. Some photos from this event will follow.
