An excellent show at The King's Head Crouch End was the ideal setup for the tour. A large turnout saw the trio of artists deliver excellent sets with a showstopper from Liz with the puppets and the humour and the non-humour. Essie Jain was great. Of course it's hard for me to write an account of an act who I have actually played with but if it counts for anything, it was a real pleasure to hear everything much more clearly than before and I think it was the best we've played together. Ben Wetherill has added a bunch of layers to his sound since I last saw him, exploring the experimental side of his songs, and it's a treat.

Tonight we're in Nottnigham, and Essie is playing right now, all alone. Her voice is really very special. Her songs are too. It's silent in here. Ben's up next.

We're eating Iced Gems. We discovered this morning that Ben Wetherill can't start a car if the steering lock is on. And Liz falls asleep dead easy in cars. And Essie has a £5 Boots voucher.
